Despicable Me 4 Movie Review: Gru & The Minions Return for a Familiar Yet Fun-Filled Adventure
Despicable Me 4 introduces our cast of main characters to another family dynamic: the arrival of a new boy, the arrival of Gru Jr. It’s an interesting premise, at least as far as the Despicable Me movies are capable, and you’d think the film would focus on how Gru bounded with his first blood child and how women seem to have crossed over completely surrounded. You’d think so, but instead the film moves into another “villain of the week” type story and the film enter familiar territory almost immediately.
It’s hard for a franchise to start changing a formula that’s been proven so many times, especially going into the fourth installment, and expecting things to change can be a waste of time The Despicable Me franchise is iLLumination Entertainment’s gold mine, and you certainly don’t so’t mess with it, especially in this day and age where the franchise may already losing old fans, and needs to attract as many new viewers as possible.
