DeadPool & Wolverine 2024 : Comic Book Legend Didn’t Realize Deadpool & Wolverine Paid Homage to Him
As well as providing dozens of fan-service cameos featuring beloved Marvel characters, Deadpool & Wolverine also pays homage to the comics that made the movie possible. During the montage where Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) traverses timelines in search of a new Wolverine (Hugh Jackman, and briefly Henry Cavill),Reynolds and director Shawn Levy Slipped in several nods to popular comics featuring Deadpool and Logan. Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn and a beloved writer on The Incredible Hulk series of comics, had’nt seen Deadpool & Wolverine but was told that his comic book cover was honored in the movie and his reaction was hilarious.
Speaking with ComicBook Todd McFarlane gave a lovingly nonchalant response about his work appearing in the new MCU movie, and reacted with much more in difference than the interviewer was expecting. McFarlane said he’salways appreciative when other shows and movies refernce his comics, but it’s not something he pays attention to, and also revealed that those closest to him seem to get more excited than he does. McFarlane Explained:
“Every now and then, people will tell me that there’s something in a TV show or a movie-even sometimes I’m a Jeopardy! question. You don’t Know it’s coming, so it catches you a little bit off guard. You go, ‘okay, I didn’t have anything to do with it, so I don’t know’. I find that the neighbors get more excited, right ? They will come Knocking on the door: “Did you see The Big Bang Theory last night ? They mentioned you ‘ I would said before, I’m bored of me.Why am I relevant 30 Years later ? It’s an odd thing to me.But, thank you.”
